This book is developed from the influential Systems Thinking, Systems Practice (1981 edition). The first part of this book includes the 1981 edition of Checkland’s Systems Thinking, Systems Practice 1981 (translated by Zuo Xiaosi and Shi Ran, edited by Zhang Huaxia, published via Huaxia Press in 1990), which introduces the content of systems thinking, the theoretical basis of soft system methodology and the early operation mode, including some classic application cases. The second part reviews the evolution and different modes of soft system methodology from 1972 to 1990.
